dad and son

Welcome to Grace Abbott! I am so pleased you have chosen to make our school your school. I know you have many choices as to where to send your children to school due to option enrollment and our district’s transfer policies. Therefore, thank you for sending your very best our way.

This school year marks my 20th year at Abbott. This is the only place I’ve worked in the Millard Public Schools. Prior to working here, I was a teacher and an assistant principal in the Omaha Public Schools and taught in Sioux City, Iowa, where I grew up. I went to school at the University of South Dakota, the University of Iowa, and UNO.

While not at work I enjoy spending time with my four children and four grandchildren. Two of my kids still live at home so we keep busy with trips to the zoo, the library, the Children’s Museum, the Durham Museum, other fun places when not quarantining.  I also love reading, biking, scrap booking, and playing tennis. Prior to playing tennis I played soccer for about 25 years including coaching high school and refereeing college.

I have a passion for education.  My father didn’t graduate from high school so going to college was not encouraged nor affordable, but wasn’t discouraged.  But, it was important to me and now I want to share that passion with others that education is a way to a better future, which doesn’t have to include college, but bettering oneself.  That’s what motivates me.

And, I don’t really scrapbook.
